Legacy Contact: fourpools@yahoo.com Awards: 2012 Region 7 Quartet Champions 2011 Region 7 Quartet Champions; 2012 Int'l Competitor
A blend of harmony, tradition, and friendship!
Legacy was formed in the summer of 2009, and is comprised of four women who have grown up singing barbershop harmony. It’s hard to believe that between the four of us there is over 80 years of barbershop experience! We chose our name because we truly feel that we have been given a legacy, and are proudly carrying the torch. We love to sing songs that we grew up listening to, as well as some new arrangements that are taking our craft to a new level. In April of this year we had our first competition together, at the regional contest in Overland Park KS. We were thrilled to become the Region 7 Champions, which qualified us to compete in Seattle Washington, at the international convention .
More About Legacy!
Karla Kraut, Baritone Karla grew up in a true barbershop family, and has been a Sweet Adeline since her teens. In her early days she sang tenor in several successful quartets, but has spent the last few years as a baritone, and has found the same level of success. She is truly one of the best! Her daughter Kristin has followed in her musical footsteps, although recently has had other priorities, like making Karla a grandma! Right now Karla is spending her free time enjoying, and spoiling, her new grandbaby.
Trish Holland, Bass Trish still remembers the songs her mother’s quartet used to sing, as a matter of fact we are singing one of them now. She inherited her mom’s rich resonant bass sound, and has been using it to win quartet competitions for most of her life. Originally from Pittsburgh, the only time she’ll miss rehearsal is if the Steelers are in town! Trish leads a full busy life, spending time with her 4 kids, 3 grandkids, and wonderful husband Buz, especially down at the lake on their boat. She too is a member of the Kansas City Chorus, and we recently welcomed her daughter Shealyn to the fold as well.
Stacy Schumacher, Lead Stacy has been a Sweet Adeline since the tender age of 14, when she joined the Kansas City Chorus along with her aunt and mother. Her dad is a singer as well, in the Heart of America Chorus. Music plays a huge role in her life, as she completed her degree and has gone on to become a music teacher in the Fort Osage school district. Recently Stacy has begun a new journey as the director of The Kansas City Chorus, taking us to an eighth place finish in her international directing debut. We are so excited to see where this adventure will lead, and especially grateful that she still finds time to share her amazing voice with us! When she is not teaching, or directing, or singing with the quartet, she lends her talent as a choreographer to several schools in the area, spends time with her family, and dotes on her two kitty cats.
Wendy Pool, Tenor Wendy, like Stacy, is a third generation barbershop brat. She still remembers going to rehearsal with her Grandmother at the age of seven, and joined the KC chorus shortly after moving here from Florida when she was 17. Her dad Gary is a member of The Barbershop Harmony Society, and has been a director of a top ten chorus, an international judge, and currently works as a successful coach for many of the men. Wendy has been a tenor since day one, and can’t imagine singing any other part, and also enjoys being on the front row of the Kansas City Chorus, alongside Karla and Trish. Singing with Legacy earned Wendy her first blue ribbon, and she is thrilled to be a part of this group. Wendy is married to a fireman, and has two little girls, who undoubtedly will be singers like their mama. As she likes to say “ they are fourth generation, they have no choice!”.
Performing is something we love to do, so keep us in mind for your next event. We sing everywhere, from church socials to backyard barbeques and birthday parties. We are thrilled to share the gift of song, harmony and friendship with you!
